Summary

A year ago, Sophie Wickham arrived in Withered Hill—naked, alone, and without memory. The secluded village embraced her, helping her piece together a new life. But as time passes, Sophie starts noticing strange occurrences—the villagers seem too familiar, too watchful, as though they know something she doesn’t. With shadows creeping into her dreams and a nagging sense that her past is tied to this eerie place, Sophie is forced to unravel the truth. But some secrets are meant to stay buried, and in Withered Hill, the past doesn’t rest easily.

Reviews

"Eerie, erotic, and utterly engrossing, Withered Hill is a masterpiece of folkloric horror. The village feels so real that you’ll glance over your shoulder as you turn the pages, expecting to find its shadow stretching toward you." — Kealan Patrick Burke, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Sour Candy

"This is folk horror at its most insidious. David Barnett weaves an intoxicating mix of dread, tension, and mystery, building to an ending that will leave you breathless. It lingers in the mind long after the final page." — Mark Stay, author of The Witches of Woodville series

"Barnett’s masterful storytelling keeps the reader off-balance, much like the protagonist. What begins as a quiet psychological mystery soon unfurls into something far darker—whispered legends, ancient rituals, and a creeping sense that some places are better left undisturbed." — Goodreads Reviewer
