Set in 1645 England, The Revels follows Nicholas Pearce, an aspiring playwright who, after the death of his half-brother, is apprenticed to Judge William Percival, a notorious former witch-hunter. As witchcraft accusations surge, Nicholas must decide whether to use his gift to save innocent lives, risking his own safety and that of those he loves.

Reviews

"A fresh take on the witch hunting genre, told from the point of view of the male hunter rather than the female witch. Nicholas is a rather modern and feminist character, and the book is very well written."

— Lydia Barrington, Foyles Bookseller

"The Revels is a novel set in 1645 that explores the theatre aspect of the witch trials. It's a dark, interwoven tale of the fault of human assumptions."

— LJ, Foyles Bookseller

"Moody, atmospheric, gothic historical fiction is my favourite. Add in witches, or more specifically, historical witch trials, and I’m hooked from the outset. The Revels was sublime from the start."

— Theresa Smith Writes
