Summary

The House of Broken Bricks delves into the lives of the Hembry family, residing in a dilapidated farmhouse in rural England. The narrative unfolds through the perspectives of Tessa, a Black Londoner; her white husband, Richard; and their twin sons, Sonny and Max. As they grapple with grief, identity, and the complexities of their interracial family dynamics, the house itself becomes a symbol of their fractured relationships. Amidst the encroaching vines and crumbling bricks, each family member seeks healing and a sense of belonging.
