Summary

Set in 1848 Victorian London, The Death of Sir Martin Malprelate is a gothic tale intertwining murder and corruption. Sir Martin Malprelate, a ruthless railway baron, has been aggressively acquiring properties in Camden to expand his railway line from King's Cross to Middlemarch, earning the ire of many. After a contentious meeting with displaced residents, he is found dead under mysterious circumstances—reportedly struck by a spectral train on tracks yet to be laid. Engineer Mr. Bryde is commissioned to investigate, uncovering a web of resentment, conspiracy, and supernatural elements within a society on the brink of revolution.
